The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, will announce the results of the High School Certificate (HSC) Supplementary Examination and the State Open School Certificate (SOSC) Examination on Saturday, August 16.

A notification in this regard was issued by the BSE, Odisha. As per official sources, the result announcement will be made at 12:30 pm on Saturday, covering both regular and ex-regular supplementary candidates as well as second-phase SOSC examinees.

According to the Board, the supplementary and SOSC examinations for 2025 were conducted from June 30 to July 10.

A total of 3,232 candidates appeared for the HSC supplementary examination at 98 centres across the state. The SOSC examination, catering to candidates outside the regular school system, saw 10,809 students writing papers at 103 centres.

A Critical Second Chance For Students

Supplementary examinations are aimed at providing students who could not clear the annual HSC or SOSC exams another opportunity within the same academic cycle.

By holding the exams in mid-year and declaring results before the close of the admission season, the BSE helps students avoid losing an academic year, ensuring they can seamlessly apply for higher education or vocational courses.

In many cases, the supplementary and SOSC pathways also benefit candidates who have had to leave school early, are pursuing education alongside work, or are from rural areas with limited access to formal schooling.

Annual Matriculation Results Set High Benchmark

The supplementary results come just over three months after the state’s annual Class 10 results were declared on May 2. School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond, announcing the results in Cuttack, reported an overall pass percentage of 94.93 percent, which was one of the highest in recent years.

Notably, out of 5,02,417 students who appeared in the annual matriculation examination, 4,84,863 passed. Girls outperformed boys with a 96 percent pass rate compared to 93.81 percent for boys.

Among the top performers, 1,112 students secured A1 grades with above 90 percent marks, while 12,200 achieved A2 grades. Another 38,831 students obtained B1 grades, and 84,971 were placed in B2. Over one lakh candidates passed in the C grade category, while 67,013 secured the minimum E grade.
