Odisha man rewrites scriptures by designing letters with Lord Ram’s name, eyes Guinness World Record

An ardent devotee of Lord Ram in Balasore district is on a divine mission. Meet Satyanarayan Karnani from Basta area who has rewritten various religious scriptures by designing each letter with the name of Lord Rama (Rama Nama).

Satyanarayan has so far rewritten 1,156 pages of various religious scriptures like Hanuman Chalisha and various chapters of Ramayan like Ayodhya Kanda, Aranya Kanda, Sundara Kanda and Lanka Kanda, Vishnu Sahasra Nama and Bhagabat Gita by designing each letter with Lord Ram’s name. Satyanarayan took around 30 years to fine-tune and complete the arduous task.

“I never took it as a task rather I get a lot of pleasure to rewrite the scriptures by designing each letter with Lord Ram’s name. After completing Ramayan, I felt restless. Then I completed Vishnu Sahasra Nama and Bhagabat Gita. I felt restless again. Subsequently, I have started rewriting Bhagbad Mahapurana,” said Satyanarayan.

“My husband started doing the innovative religious practice when he was ill. Soon, he made it a daily practice and follows it religiously every day. Even when he goes outside, he takes the copies with him and follows his religious ‘Sadhna’,” said Satyanarayan’s wife Sumitra.

During the early days of his practice, Satyanarayan was taking more than 20 minutes to redesign and script a single letter. However, with rigorous and sincere practice and ardent devotion to Lord Rama, he is now able to complete a sentence in 20 minutes.

Now, he has set an aim to rewrite Bhagbad Mahapurana by designing and scripting each letter with the holy name of Lord Rama. Local residents are hopeful that he will be part of the Guinness Book of World Record soon with his rare feat.

“It was an arduous act. He was taking a long time initially. However, with practice, he has mastered it fully. From his devotion and dedication, everybody can learn patience,” said Satyanarayan’s daughter Madhumalli.

“Satyanarayan has rewritten the entire Ramayan by scripting each letter with Lord Ram’s name. His arduous act has stunned one and all in the area. With Lord Ram’s blessings, he is able to execute such a rigorous act,” said Shiva Narayan Sahu, a local resident.
