Launching a broadside against the ruling-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi accused the State government of indulging in unhealthy competition with the centre.

Addressing media during an event in Khordha held to celebrate nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government; Sarangi said the Odisha government is not implementing many welfare schemes of the Central government in the State.

At a time when PM Modi-led government allotted 9.59 lakh houses to Odisha free of cost, the BJD government launched ‘Mo Ghara’ yojana in which the beneficiaries need to take loan from banks to construct houses. This is really unfortunate and unhealthy competition, the saffron party leader said.

“In the nine years of the Modi government, seven IITs, seven IIMs, 390 universities have been established. Around four crore houses under PMAY have been sanctioned while 9.59 lakh houses have been allotted to Odisha. But surprisingly, the state government is yet to pass work orders for the same,” Sarangi said.

“India is prospering ever since Narendra Modi became PM in 2014. May it be health, education, defence or woman empowerment, every sector has got a boost,” said the minister of State for Ministry of AYUSH, Mahendra Munjapara, who was also at the event.

However, no comments have been received from the ruling BJD or the State government in this regard.
