Odisha hikes meeting remunerations of Mission Shakti federation members by Rs 500

Meeting fees of gram panchayat and block-level federations under the state's Mission Shakti programme were hiked by Rs 500 by Odisha government on Monday.

As per the decision, the meeting remuneration of president, secretary and other executive members of gram panchayat and block-level federations has been increased by Rs 500. The increased payment amount will be applicable retrospectively from October 2023.

Following the hike, the presidents and secretaries of block-level federations will now get Rs 4,500 for meetings. Similarly, other executive members will now get Rs 2,500 as compared to Rs 2,000 earlier.

Similarly, presidents and secretaries of gram panchayat-level federations will now get Rs 2,500 for meetings while other executive members will get Rs 1,500 now as against Rs 1,000 earlier.

This will cost the State exchequer Rs 249.21 crore a year.

A total of 676 block-level federation presidents and secretaries are in the state while the number of other members is 3,042. Similarly, there are 13,588 presidents and secretaries in the gram panchayat level federation, while the number of other members is 1,08,704. A total of 1,26,010 workers will be benefited from this.
