Odisha groom meets with watery grave two days after wedding

In a shocking incident, a newlywed man drowned while taking bath in a pond on Friday, just two days after his marriage. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar Bhanja of Khadupahi village under Remuna block in Balasore district.

The death of the groom who had married on March 1 has sent a shockwave in the area.

According to reports, Ajay had married in a grand ceremony on March 1. His first night was scheduled today. All the relatives, guests and family members were in a celebratory mood after the marriage. The village erupted in celebration, laughter and festivity after the arrival of the new bride.

However, Ajay, who had gone to take bath in the morning, did not return back home. Worried family members searched for him everywhere, but there was no trace of his whereabouts. 

Later, his body was found floating in the nearby pond. The exact circumstances under which Ajay fell into the pond are yet to be ascertained.

A pall of gloom descended over the village after the incident.
