The Odisha government sanctioned seven renewable energy projects worth Rs 1,386.09 crore, totalling 192.41 MW capacity. Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev chaired the decision.

Odisha green signals renewable energy projects worth over Rs 1,300 cr

The Odisha government on Wednesday approved seven renewable energy projects valued at Rs 1,386.09 crore, with a total capacity of 192.41 megawatts (MW). The decision was made by the single-window committee (SWC) of the energy department, chaired by Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev.

The approved projects include a 99 MW wind power project, five ground-mounted solar projects totaling 91.77 MW, and one rooftop solar project of 1.64 MW. These initiatives are designed to enhance the state's sustainable energy infrastructure and capitalize on Odisha's natural renewable energy potential, reflecting the government's commitment to the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022.

Dev highlighted the critical role of renewable energy in fostering sustainable economic growth and reiterated the government's dedication to facilitating investments and ensuring the timely execution of approved projects. To date, the SWC has sanctioned investment proposals amounting to Rs 9,781.47 crore for a cumulative capacity of 1,441.79 MW in the renewable energy sector.

Recently the Odisha government recently approved a landmark investment of Rs 1,36,622 crore across 20 transformative industrial projects during a High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting in Bhubaneswar. These initiatives are expected to create over 74,350 jobs and significantly contribute to the state's economic growth. 

Additionally, the government endorsed 15 new industrial projects in November with a total investment of Rs 3,353 crore, projected to generate 4,637 jobs, during a State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting led by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.
