Odisha govt to transform 100-150 villages as 'Mahapurush Adarsh' villages

The Odisha government has embarked on an ambitious plan to develop around 100 to 150 villages into 'Mahapurush Adarsh' villages across the state, enhancing those associated with eminent personalities who played a key role during the freedom struggle.

In a bid to rejuvenate these historically significant yet neglected areas, the initiative will focus on upgrading roads, drinking water, irrigation, education, and healthcare facilities.

Collaboration for Change

Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, announced this initiative on Monday, stating that various state departments would collaborate to ensure seamless implementation.

Minister Naik confirmed that the process has already started in this regard has already started and nine to ten departments will contribute to ensure the rapid development of those villages.

"Around 100 to 150 villages in Odisha associated with notable figures from the Indian freedom struggle will be transformed as 'Mahapurush Adarsh' villages. Nine to ten departments will collaboratively work for the development of those villages. The state government will facilitate all the requirements. Process in this regard has already started and the initiative will be implemented soon," said Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik. 

A couple of months back, the Minister had urged citizens to swiftly report any issues related to drinking water supply to local administrative officers.

The move was part of an initiative to ensure the availability of pure drinking water across communities, responding to frequent water supply disruptions that affect daily life in various regions amid the scorching heat of summer.
