Odisha govt to fill over 22,800 Group C posts by August 31
In a major push to strengthen the administrative workforce, the Odisha government has directed all concerned departments to fill over 22,800 Group C vacancies across 10 key departments by August 31, 2025.
The directive was issued on Thursday by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, aiming to expedite recruitment and address long-standing staff shortages in crucial public service sectors.
According to official data, there are a total of 44,909 Group C vacancies in 10 departments. Out of these, 22,896 posts are to be filled in the current recruitment phase.
A department-wise breakup reveals that the School and Mass Education Department tops the list with 8,358 vacancies, followed by the Panchayati Raj Department with 4,042 posts, and the Health Department with 3,677 vacancies.
The Chief Secretary has asked all departments to ensure timely recruitment, marking a critical step towards enhancing the efficiency and delivery of public services.
The move is expected to ease the workload on existing staff and improve service delivery, particularly in education, healthcare, and rural development sectors.
Officials said that the accelerated recruitment drive is part of the government’s broader strategy to streamline governance and improve grassroots-level administration.
