In a piece of good news for the residents of Bolangir district, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved a proposal for the modernisation of the Tusura airstrip in Bolangir. 

During a two-day visit to Bolangir district on August 5 and 6, Nabin Odisha & 5T Chairman, VK Pandian received several proposals from the people. There were some proposals for improvement of the Tusura airstrip. He then directed the District Collector to prepare a detailed project report (DPR).

Today, the Chief Minister approved the proposal for the development of the airstrip and also sanctioned a fund of Rs 65 crore for the same. With this, Bolangir people’s dream of air connectivity to different parts of the country has been rekindled. 

Earlier on August 31, Utkela airport in the tribal-dominated district of Kalahandi welcomed its first flight from Bhubaneswar. Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the flight services virtually from Delhi while Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off the flight services from Bhubaneswar airport.
