Odisha govt hikes ex-gratia amount to Rs 6 lakh for construction workers
Odisha government on Wednesday announced a hike in the ex-gratia amount for construction workers in case of any accidental death.
As per the announcement by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, the ex-gratia amount has been hiked to Rs 6 lakh from the existing amount of Rs 4 lakh.
Majhi announced the hike in the ex-gratia amount in a function organised at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
“Construction workers will now get an accidental death benefit of Rs 6 lakh instead of the earlier amount of Rs 4 lakh,” said Majhi.
“Besides, the State government will provide Rs 3 lakh as ex-gratia amount to the family members of the construction workers for any natural death. Earlier, the ex-gratia amount was Rs 2 lakh in case of natural death. Considering the requests of the construction workers, the decision has been taken. Our government is committed for the development of construction workers,” he added.
Odisha Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia and Chief Secretary were present during the function.
