Odisha govt announces welfare scheme for sanitation workers; Rs 10 lakh life insurance cover
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday made a series of announcements for the welfare of sanitation workers during the ‘Garima’ programme held at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, the CM Majhi declared a life insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh for sanitation workers. In case a sanitation worker dies on duty, his family will be entitled to get Rs 30 lakh compensation.
In a move to bridge the digital divide, CM Majhi announced that mobile phones will be provided to all sanitation workers to help them stay connected and informed.
Additionally, under the PM Urban Housing Scheme, pucca houses will be provided to sanitation workers residing in urban areas.
“A life insurance of Rs 10 lakh will be provided to sanitation worker engaged in cleaning of sewerage and septic tanks. Besides, in case of death in the line of duty, the deceased’s family would receive Rs 30 lakh as compensation,” CM Majhi announced.
“The sanitation workers engaged in the cleaning of sewerage and septic tanks will be provided mwith obile phones. Under the PM Urban Housing Scheme, pucca houses will be provided to sanitation workers,” he added.
