The incident took place in Chakibanka village under Rajnagar block, which remains submerged due to rising water levels of the Brahmani River. Continuous flooding has cut off road connectivity to several low-lying villages, leaving hundreds stranded and emergency services unable to reach them.

Amidst this crisis, Sanghamitra Raut, a resident of Chakibanka, went into labour. With ambulances unable to navigate the submerged roads, Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Mohanty, a medical officer at Rajnagar CHC, rose to the occasion.
