Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Majhi on Monday took a jibe at Odisha DGP Sunil Bansal for maintaining silence over the mystery surrounding the murder of Health Minister, Naba Kishore Das.

Responding to media queries, Majhi said, “The DGP is silent even if 23 days have passed since the murder of Naba Das. He is DGP only in pen and paper. But the real DG is on the third floor of the Odisha Secretariat.”

Majhi further alleged that there is a major conspiracy behind Naba Das murder. “When Naba Das was shot and was taken to Jharsuguda hospital, the CDMO had given his statement to the government. In the name of treatment, Das was shifted to Bhubaneswar. Everything was scripted and there is a conspiracy behind it,” he said.

Majhi said that the DGP doesn’t have any responsibility and it is a ‘sponsored event’ as the Crime branch is yet to make any statement, which clearly speaks volumes about the law and order situation in Odisha.

“We anticipate that the accused Gopal Das will go scot free as every attempt is being taken to term him as mentally instable,” Majhi added.

Meanwhile, the BJP has decided to corner the Odisha government by raising the Naba Das murder case and other issues in the budget session of the Odisha Assembly.

“The Naba Das murder suggests that the law and order situation has virtually collapsed and we will raise the issue in Assembly. Apart from issues like BSKY and Awas corruption, other issues will also be raised,” Majhi added.

On the other hand, the BJD termed the Naba Das murder investigation as world class. Speaking to reporters, BJD leader and Cuttack Mayor, Subash Singh said, "We are taking help of the experts in the country. This is a very advanced investigation being done with the supervision of the judiciary. We will have to put our faith on the CB and wait till the facts are disclosed."
