CM Mohan Majhi appealing youths to volunteer
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi addressed young people of the community on Sunday, urging them to actively participate in civil defence organisations as volunteers. He stressed that safeguarding the lives and assets of citizens is a shared duty.
Highlighting the importance of service and security as paramount responsibilities, the Chief Minister advocated for volunteering as a means to foster a sense of nationalism.
CM Majhi stated that the interested individuals can submit their applications through their respective district administrations. The Chief Minister’s call to action aims at encouraging a collaborative effort towards national safety and community service.
“Safety of lives and properties of common people in the country is a duty of us all. Security and service are our topmost responsibilities. I appeal to all citizens, especially the youths, to join civil defence organisations as volunteers with a spirit of nationalism,” the CM said.
“Youth community is the symbol of our hopes, and aspirations. Interested persons can apply to respective District Collectors, who are the controllers of Civil Defence in a district. The young volunteers will be imparted necessary training. They will provide service to people at the time of emergent situations,” the CM stated.
“Twelve civil defence organisations are operational in our Stat,e and I have ordered to set up more such organisations wherever necessary. I hope that several persons, especially youths, will come forward to extend their services with patriotic spirit,” the CM expressed.
Notably, Civil Defence is a volunteer-based emergency response organisation that supports the frontline urgent situation services, e.g. in dealing with severe weather or searching for missing people. The volunteers also carry out community support activities, e.g. providing first aid cover at both local and national events.
Worth mentioning, amid ceasefire and efforts to de-escalate tensions, there was a semblance of normalcy in Kashmir valley as J&K residents witnessed the first night in six days without the sound of aircraft, missiles and drones flying overhead. India and Pakistan have reached an understanding to stop military actions.
