Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday partook in the sacred ‘Nabanna’ (season’s first rice) on the premises of Samaleswari Temple as part of his Nuakhai celebration in Sambalpur. On the auspicious occasion of Nuakhai, one of the biggest festivals of western Odisha, CM Majhi participated in the celebrations and was spotted enjoying ‘nuakhai’. He was accompanied by his wife for the special occasion.
This is the first Nuakhai for Mohan Majhi after becoming the first BJP chief minister of Odisha. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Rural Development Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra and many administrative officers also participated.
Before joining in for the celebration and enjoying the Nuakhai feast, Chief Minister Majhi visited the Maa Samaleswari temple and sought the blessings of the goddess.
“This is the festival of togetherness in family and the biggest festival of western Odisha. I’m grateful that I got this chance to seek the blessings of Maa Samaleswari and seek her blessings for the peace and prosperity of all Odias across the state. May everyone’s life be fulfilled with happiness and prosperity,” CM Majhi said after the event.
“May farmers reap good harvests and their income grows manifold. I’m very happy and I wish everyone a happy Nuakhai,” the CM added.
Meanwhile, reports suggest the Chief Minister is expected to launch the CM-KISAN Yojana. Under the yojana, each eligible farmer will receive an annual sum of Rs 4000 in two installments, while landless farmers will be granted Rs 12500 in three installments.
