According to official sources, the double-decker buses will provide an efficient route for tourists travelling between Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Puri, following a scheduled timetable to ensure regular service. This initiative is expected to facilitate convenient travel for NRI visitors coming to the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conclave, further enhancing the tourism appeal of the region.

Similarly, in Bhubaneswar, the newly-introduced hop-on-hop-off buses will connect popular sightseeing destinations, making it easier for tourists to navigate and explore the city’s attractions. Designed to support tourism, these buses offer a flexible travel option for visitors wanting to witness different tourist places in Bhubaneswar.

For local residents and visitors within Puri, the introduction of electric buses promises an environment-friendly travel alternative. These buses are restricted to intra-city routes alone, showing a commitment to reducing the carbon footprint while improving local commuting options.

Worth mentioning, a 10-year contract was earlier signed with a private organisation for the supply, operation, and maintenance of the buses as well as employing workers for them. If required, the contract period may be extended for two more years.

Previously, Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra had stated that the buses will operate under the ‘Mo Bus’ initiative and will be managed by the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT).
