The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday took to the streets alleging deterioration of law and order in Odisha. They demanded the Chief Minister’s resignation over the murder of Health Minister Naba Kishore Das.

BJP members sat on a dharna in front of the Police Commissionerate office in Bhubaneswar.

Speaking to reporters, BJP State General Secretary, Prithviraj Harichandan said, “Law and order in the State has reached a dangerous situation. Common man is clueless about safety and security.”

“If the Chief Minister cannot save his Minister from being murdered in broad daylight then what chance does the common man has? Naveen Patnaik has no moral grounds to sit on the CM Chair. He should resign from his position as soon as possible,” Harichandan demanded.

BJP has also threatened to intensify the agitation.

Earlier, in an exclusive interview to OTV, BJP leader Pradip Purohit had claimed that there is a race in BJD on who will become CM after Naveen Patnaik. “When the information of 'Shani Puja' by Naba Das for the CM post got leaked, he was eliminated. Naba babu was influential and wealthy. To buyout 50 MLAs paying Rs 20-30 crores each was not a big-deal for him," Purohit had said.
