Odisha CHSE Plus Two admissions: Second phase of applications to open on SAMS portal today

The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) today opened the second phase of Plus Two admissions in Odisha, allowing students to apply for seats left vacant after the completion of the first phase. Applications can be submitted online through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal starting at 3 PM today.

According to the official notification, the last date for submitting applications under this phase is August 31. The first merit list for the second phase will be published on September 4, with admissions scheduled between September 6 and 10.

For candidates who do not secure admission during the merit list process, the state has also planned a spot admission round.

Choice-locking for spot admissions will open on September 12, while the spot selection merit list and waiting list will be released on September 17 at 3 PM. Students shortlisted in this round will take admission on September 18 and 19.

Notably, the phased admission process is aimed at ensuring that no seat remains vacant in the state’s higher secondary institutions.

Earlier, the first phase of Plus Two admissions for the 2025-26 session had opened on 24th May and the first merit list was released on 7th July. Following the conclusion of the first phase of admissions, classes began on 24th July.

Curriculum Revisions from 2025–26

The admission cycle comes amid major academic reforms announced by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) last week. Beginning the 2025–26 academic year, the Plus Two syllabus will include Environmental Education (under English) and Value Education (under MIL) as new compulsory units.

Students will face questions from these units in the 2026 board examinations, to sensitise learners to issues of sustainability, ethics, and responsible citizenship.
