The State Cabinet on Monday approved the outcome of the bidding process/tender for the construction of 130 MLD water treatment plant for the improvement of water supply to Bhubaneswar city.

The cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the capital expenditure based on the received bid amount to Rs 286 crore and the project will be executed by the selected bidder M/S LC Infra Projects Pvt Ltd.

As the present capacity of the water treatment plants has reached a saturation point, there is an urgent need of improving the treatment capacity to meet the growing demand for drinking water in Bhubaneswar.

In a bid to address the situation, the Housing and Urban Development department through Water Corporation of Odisha proposed the 130 MLD water treatment plant and its ancillary structures for the improvement of water supply to Bhubaneswar.

Once completed, the new project will help ensure 24x7 ‘Drink From Tap’ quality water supply to all the households of Bhubaneswar city up to 2038.
