The annual High School Certificate (HSC) or Matric examination commenced in Odisha on Tuesday. Conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the examination will continue till March 4.

A total of 5,51,611 students are slated to appear in the examination this year.

The BSE has made 3,047 examination centres for this purpose. Similarly, the Board has made 21 police stations in remote areas as its nodal centres.

In a bid to put a check on malpractice, the BSE has put all the examination centres under CCTV surveillance and the data is live-streamed to the Command Control Centre at the BSE office in Cuttack.

As per reports, the CCTV cameras are powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) which detects any abnormal activity under its purview and sends alerts to the Command Centre.

Even the nodal centres which are currently closed have been put under CCTV surveillance. Question papers of other days have been stored at the nodal centres.

Students appearing for the exams will have to download the Odisha HSC admit card 2024 through the official website, bseodisha.nic.in. They will have to mandatorily carry the hall ticket to the exam centre along with school ID.

The entry of students into the exam premises started at 7:30 am and was completed by 8:15 am. The idea is to have more time to complete the gate-checking process. OMR sheets were provided to students at 8:30 am.

No students were allowed after 8:15 am as the exams started at 9 am. Apart from this, no employees other than centre superintendents are allowed to take mobile phones inside the examination hall.

The evaluation process will begin on March 16 and the entire process is likely to be completed by March 30, 2024.
