Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha is embarking on a strategic mission to promote the advantages of 'double-engine' governance. This action plan involves the ministers and MLAs interacting with the public to discuss national and state budgetary moves, sources said on Sunday.

District-level press briefings will elucidate these initiatives further while the party workers will conduct door-to-door visits to spread this information.

During a key meeting of the party on last Friday, the significance of appointing leaders to oversee government boards and corporations within this month was highlighted, aiming to boost administrative efficacy. By illustrating the accomplishments under the leaderships of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, the BJP seeks to solidify its organisational base in the days ahead.

Ministers and MLAs are to be tasked with clarifying people the impact of recent budget announcements and future initiatives in Odisha. The information will reach even the rural locales via leaflets and posters.

Tarun Chugh, the BJP's National General Secretary, stressed the value of organisation-driven advocacy in disseminating government programmes. Meanwhile, efforts to appoint leaders to fill existing vacancies in government bodies are underway.

This process has seen delays, having lingered for eight months post-election—a delay that has impacted swift governmental implementation. Discussions regarding which leaders will fill these roles are underway, with hopes to finalise by the month end.

Politically active individuals who supported BJP during previous elections without receiving nominations may be given preference for these roles. Candidates likely to be included are party’s vice-presidents Golak Mahapatra, Biranchi Tripathi, and general secretaries such as Simanchal Khatei, Jatin Mohanty, and Sarada Satpathy.

Other potential appointees are Jayant Jena, Samir Ranjan Dash, Surath Biswal, Sudipta Ray, Sajjan Sharma, Rajendra Panda, and Anil Biswal.

Former opposition leader Pradipta Nayak and leaders such as Jagannath Pradhan, Kusum Tete, Gautam Ray, and Priyadarshi Mishra might also see placement in these posts.

Besides, as the month concludes, the BJP anticipates full mobilisation of its state president, 14 district presidents, and other organisational roles, equipping it for future challenges.

“Number of aspirants is much more in BJP. The party has been exercising to accommodate the ‘pulls and pressures’ within. Several individuals are there, who have contributed to the party’s success in 2024 General Elections,” political analyst Akshay Sahu opined.
