Leaders of the Odisha BJP Mahila Morcha staged a demonstration near Ram Mandir in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, taking strong exception to the derogatory remarks made by Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar on women in the State Assembly.
Notably, Kumar’s remarks, which were almost in graphic details on population control, came while he was emphasizing on girl education to contain population growth. As a mark of protest, the women leaders of the BJP burnt an effigy of the Bihar Chief Minister. They clamoured for the immediate resignation of Nitish Kumar from his post.

Strongly reacting to the remarks, Aiswarya Biswal, president of the BJP Mahila Morcha (Odisha) said, "As the Chief Minister of a state, Nitish Kumar making such vulgar remarks, that too openly, on women is something that has degraded the dignity of women in society at a time when our Prime Minister is giving much importance to women in all sectors. It is a matter of shame for him.”
Biswal also said that not only all BJP women leaders but also women of the country demand immediate resignation of Nitish Kumar from his post.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar has tendered apologies for his controversial remarks.
