As many as 630 BJP supporters from 314 blocks left for New Delhi in a special train on Saturday with Amrut Kalashs (holy pitchers) following the conclusion of Kalash Yatra.

As per reports, the saffron workers accompanied by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi and party’s state unit president Manmohan Samal trooped out in a rally from the party office to the Master Canteen before boarding the special train.

Speaking about the significance of the Kalash Yatra, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, "Post-Independence, soldiers of the Army and paramilitary forces had dedicated their lives to ensure the safety of the nation. The nation today paid homage to these heroes for their great sacrifice through the Mo Mati Mo Desha programme. Soil collected by volunteers from about 13,250 villages of Odisha was sent to New Delhi.”

BJP state unit president Manmohan Samal said that the soil will be used for Armut Batika on Kartabyapath in New Delhi, which will be a centre of inspiration for 140 crore people.

The Kalash Yatra, a part of ‘Mo Mati Mo Desha Abhiyan’, is being held in response to the call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pay great homage to the soldiers and paramilitary men who have dedicated their lives to the nation.

Accordingly, the party workers had collected soil from all block and panchayats of the state. Soil was also collected from the native places of freedom fighters and martyrs.

The soil collected from various parts of the country will be used to build an Amruta Batika on Kartavyapath in New Delhi. The Prime Minister will build up this Batika on October 31, the birthday of Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel.

BJD MP Muna Khan also welcomed the programme and was all praise for the PM. "All kalashs from Odisha kept in the train were flagged off today. This is a matter of pride and happiness. We thank the Prime Minister for such a great thought of paying homage to our heroes by setting up Amrut Batika in New Delhi,” Khan said.
