Following the recovery of Rs 37 lakh unaccounted cash from the possession of the arrested Police IIC of Boipariguda Police Station, Sushant Satpathy, it has been revealed that the accused IIC had Ollywood links as well.

According to reports, Satpathy has acted in many Odia films and TV serials. However, it is unclear whether he just had an interest in acting or he invested his black money in movies.

Apart from his Ollywood links, it has also been revealed that Satpathy was once suspended before becoming an IIC.

Sources said departmental proceedings were initiated against him on the directions of SPs of three districts. However, he was promoted to the position of IIC in 2023 despite dents in his service records.

Jagatsinghpur SP had first ordered departmental proceedings against Satpathy in 2012. Cuttack SP had also issued a similar order in 2018. The Rayagada SP had suspended Satpathy in 2020 after reprimanding him first. Furthermore, departmental action was also taken against him.

While questions are now being raised on how Satpathy got promoted despite all the controversies, it is suspected that he had the blessings of some influential persons.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) trained guns at the Odisha government indicating the involvement of some Ministers and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLAs in laundering the black money acquired by Satpathy.

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson, Anil Biswal said, “On whose reference Satpathy was posted at Naveen Niwas? Despite departmental proceedings, how did he get promotion?”

“There are reports of Satpathy’s links with job scam mastermind Biranchi Sahu. The Ganja smuggled out of Koraput is stored in Nayagarh with the help of a former Minister and BJD MLA,” Biswal alleged.

Raising his Ollywood link, Biswal questioned, “How did he get to act in Odia film starred by a BJD MP? Is it because his black money was used to produce the movie?"

Vigilance arrested Satpathy after he failed to give a satisfactory account of cash to the tune of Rs 37 lakh which was recovered during searches in his official residence, office chamber at Boipariguda and his quarters in Cuttack on Tuesday.

He is currently lodged in Boipariguda jail.

Though Vigilance has not confirmed the sources of the cash yet, it is suspected that it might have a link with the ganja smuggling which is rampant in the fringe areas of Koraput and Malkangiri districts where he was posted as an IIC.
