Taking strong exception to some objectionable comments and posts on social media against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha alleged that the filthy comments and postings were made by a Facebook handle run by the IT cell of the Biju Janata Dal(BJD).

A delegation of the frontline Odisha BJP leaders filed a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Bhubaneswar in this regard on Wednesday and demanded stern action against the BJD workers/leaders who are involved in such unsavoury activities.

If no action is taken immediately, legal recourse on the issue will be taken, warned the BJP. If necessary, the party will take to the streets, Samir Mohanty, a senior party leader said.

Senior BJP leader Pitambar Acharya said, “In a social media handle run by the BJD, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been abused with expletives. We feel scared of uttering such unutterable and filthy words used against the PM of the country. The facebook group is directly controlled by the BJD IT cell.”
