Odisha Assembly Speaker election on Sep 21; Monsoon Session from Sep 22

The Monsoon Session will be held from September 22 to October 4.

Odisha Legislative Assembly

Election for the Odisha Assembly Speaker post, which has been lying vacant since the resignation of Bikram Keshari Arukha on May 12, will be held on September 21. 

Though no official notification is out with respect to the Speaker election, close sources have confirmed that the election will be held on September 21.

At a time when there were speculations that the Odisha Legislative Assembly might be dissolved and the state might witness an earlier election along with suspense over the Monsoon Session, the recent development has assumed importance.

 
As per the latest available information, the Monsoon Session will be held from September 22 to October 4. So, before the session, the Odisha Assembly Speaker will be held. For this, nomination papers will be filed on September 18. 

At present, Rajanikant Singh is the Acting Speaker. 

While the Monsoon Session is scheduled to continue till October 4, Bikram Keshari Arukha will present the Supplementary Budget on October 3.
