Odisha govt approves 19 projects worth Rs 6,117 crore; 17,286 job opportunities likely

To further strengthen the state's position as a premier investment destination in the country, the Odisha government on Monday approved investment proposals worth Rs 6,117 crore.

The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) in its 135th meeting approved 19 major projects across 10 key sectors that are expected to generate 17,286 job opportunities in 11 districts of the state.

The 19 approved projects span diverse sectors, including Biofuel, Biotechnology, Steel, Food Processing, Green Energy Equipment, Chemicals, Apparel, Shipbuilding, Aluminium, and Tourism.

These projects will be implemented in, Cuttack, Khordha, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Bolangir ensuring balanced regional development.

The Odisha government asserted that with these investments, Odisha continues its rapid industrial expansion and employment generation, positioning itself as a top destination for businesses.

Major Investments in Biofuel, Shipbuilding & Food Processing

Among the key projects, Transpacific Engineering Private Limited will invest ₹900 crore in a Bio coal plant in Sambalpur, expected to generate 630 jobs. Similarly, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) will invest ₹868 crore in a High-Speed Diesel & Petrol pipeline across Rayagada, Balangir, and Kalahandi, creating 168 jobs.

The Biotechnology and Chemicals sector will also see significant investments, expected to generate 850 job opportunities. In the food processing sector, a ₹515.32 crore investment in Khordha will expand an existing unit, creating 441 jobs.

Shipbuilding & Repairing Yard to Boost Maritime Industry

Odisha's shipbuilding and repairing sector received a major boost with the approval of a ₹550 crore investment in Jagatsinghpur. The Shipbuilding & Repairing Yard project is expected to create 1,000 jobs, further strengthening the state’s maritime industry.
