Balasore farmers showing damaged crops
As per the instructions of the Chief Minister, financial assistance has been announced for the flood-hit people of the Balasore district.
A financial assistance of Rs 1,20,000 for the immediate repair of a completely damaged house, Rs 6,500 for the repair of a partially damaged pucca house, Rs 4,000 for a partially damaged kutcha house, Rs 8,000 for a damaged hut and Rs 3,000 for damaged cowshed will be provided.
The families whose houses have been completely damaged or submerged in water for two days will receive financial assistance of Rs 2,500 for clothes and Rs 2,500 for kitchen wares.
To compensate for the crop/horticulture loss, small and marginal farmers will be given financial assistance of Rs 8,500 per hectare for non-irrigated areas, Rs 17,000 per hectare for irrigated land and Rs 22,500 per hectare for all types of perennial crops. This assistance will be provided for a maximum of two hectares.

Similarly, small and marginal farmers will receive Rs 18,000 per hectare for three-inch high sand deposition and a minimum of Rs 2,200. For the repair of fish ponds and recovery of ponds, Rs 18,000 per hectare or a minimum of Rs 2,200 per hectare will be provided. If most of the agricultural land is damaged due to landslides and changes in the course of the river, then Rs 47,000 per hectare will be provided. For this, a minimum financial assistance of Rs 5,000 per farmer will be given.
Fishermen will be compensated with Rs 6,000 for their partially damaged boats, Rs 3,000 for partially damaged nets, Rs 15,000 for completely damaged boats, Rs 4,000 for completely damaged nets and Rs 10,000 per hectare for damage to fish seed farms will be provided.
Likewise, for livestock losses, a financial assistance of Rs 37,500 per milching buffalo or cow, Rs 4000 per goat or sheep, Rs 32,000 per pack animal such as oxen, buffaloes, horses and Rs 20,000 per calf, donkey and mule will be provided.
The amount of assistance will be limited to three large milching animals or 30 small milching animals or three large draft animals or six small draft animals per family.
Similarly, financial assistance of Rs 5,000 per rural handloom and handicraft artisan rural artisan and Rs 5,000 per rural artisan for various related products will be provided.
Notably, Balasore district witnessed flooding due to low-pressure-induced incessant rainfall this month. On September 18, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of the district and directed compensation to the flood-hit persons.
