She has always been an epitome of courage who overcame all the hardships that came her way. Meet Odisha’s Pramodini Roul, the acid attack survivor, who has been an inspiration for many.

Pramodini, who was attacked with acid at the age of 16 in 2009, has seen many ups and downs in her life. The trauma that she underwent cannot be expressed in words. However, life took a beautiful turn when Pramodini met Saroj at a private nursing home in Cuttack. Their love blossomed and they got married in 2021.

Recently, Pramodini gave birth to a healthy baby boy and wishes are pouring in for the proud mother from all quarters.

“I am very happy that I have been blessed with a baby which is every woman’s dream. There were a lot of complications and challenges in my life. Now it is time to move on,” said Pramodini.

Pramodini hails from Jagatsinghpur district. It was on April 18, 2009 when an Army Jawan Santosh Bedanta had thrown acid on Pramodini after she rejected his marriage proposal.

Pramodini underwent treatment and a series of surgeries at SCB Medical College and Hospital. But she lost her eyesight. She was operated upon again in July 2017 in Chennai and got back 20 percent vision in her left eye.

Eight years after the acid attack, Jagatsinghpur police had arrested Bedant from a hideout in Kolkata.
