The Sahitya Akademi, India’s National Academy of Letters, has announced its Yuva Puraskar-2023 in Odia language. Young short story writer Dileswar Rana of Odisha has been selected for the prestigious award.

Rana will receive the coveted award for his book Senrra (Short-Stories).

The book was selected unanimously on the basis of the recommendation made by the Jury comprising three members and eminent writers - Bibhuti Pattnaik, Gobinda Chandra Chand, and Dash Benhur in accordance with the rules and procedure laid down for the purpose.

The Award relates to the book published by an author of the age of 35 and below as of January 1 of the year of the award.

The Award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque and a cheque of Rs.50,000 will be presented to the awardee at a special function to be held at a later date.

Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, was established in 1954 by the Government of India. As India's Premier literary institution, the Akademi preserves and promotes literature contained in twenty-four Indian Languages recognized by it through Awards, Fellowships, Grants, Publications, Literary Programmes, Workshops, and Exhibitions.

The Akademi also undertakes literary exchange programmes with various countries across the globe to promote Indian literature beyond the shores of India.
