Odia music director Abhijit Majumdar goes into coma, shifted to ICU at AIIMS Bhubaneswar
Popular Odia music director Abhijit Majumdar has reportedly slipped into a coma at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where his condition remains critical. According to the medical bulletin issued by AIIMS, Majumdar has been admitted to the ICU and placed on ventilator support since Thursday afternoon.
Doctors revealed that he is suffering from pneumonia along with multiple other health complications, which have severely worsened his condition.
“Having multiple comorbid conditions (Hypertension, Hypothyroidism, chronic liver disease), he was admitted to AIIMS emergency today 10am in a comatose state, on ventilator support. He was shifted to the medical ICU at 12noon for further management,” Dr. Srikant Behera, Asst. Prof. General Medicine informed.
“At present, he is critically ill, in a comatose condition, having pneumonia, on ventilator support. His vitals (BP and Pulse) are stable,” he added.
The hospital authorities stated that his vital parameters are being closely monitored by a team of specialists, and his treatment is continuing on an emergency basis. Despite intensive care, his health remains unstable.

Abhijit Majumdar, known for his soulful compositions in numerous Odia films and albums, has been a prominent name in the state’s music industry for decades. His unique melodies and contributions have made him one of the most celebrated music directors in Odisha.
With AIIMS confirming his critical condition, the coming hours will be crucial for the veteran composer’s recovery.
