The mortal remains of martyred Odia Army jawan, Debashish Biswal reached Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Bhubaneswar on Saturday morning.

A guard of honour was given to him at the airport upon arrival.

Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal, senior Army officials paid tributes to the slain jawan.

His body will be taken to his native village at Satybadi in Puri in a procession and his last rites will be conducted at Khandayat Sahi crematorium.

Twin City Police Commissioner, Saumendra Priyadarshi, who was present at the airport, paid his tributes as well. "There is no great thing than sacrificing life for the Country. We received his mortal remains at Bhubaneswar with full State honour. It will now be sent to his village in Sakhigopal," said Priyadarshi while speaking to the reporters.

Political leaders were also present at the airport. Odisha BJP Chief, "Manmohan Samal said, "The Country will remember the supreme sacrifice Biswal has given. He is the pride of Odisha. I pray Lord Jagannath to give the bereaved family much needed strength at this hour of grief."   

Biswal received martyrdom on Thursday. He was among the five army personnel who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir.

Lance Naik, Debashish Biswal from Alagum near Sakhigopal in Puri district is survived by his wife and a 7-month-old baby.
