Odia Jatra actor Piyush Tripathy
Piyush Tripathy, a celebrated Jatra artiste, was once again embroiled in controversy on Friday, this time involving a contract dispute with ‘Surya Mandir’ Jatra troupe. Previously, he had faced similar issues with ‘Singhabahini’ troupe over contractual disagreements.
While the earlier dispute with Singhabahini was resolved, Surya Mandir's owner, Pramod Swain, has now brought forth new allegations.
According to Swain, the actor is engaged with Surya Mandir Jatra until June 13, 2026, for which future bookings have already been secured. However, it is reported that Tripathy intends to join Singhabahini, potentially causing financial setbacks for Surya Mandir.
This follows a recent resolution with Singhabahini's proprietor, Sanjeeb Padhy, who initially accused Tripathy of breaching their contract despite having received around Rs 55 Lakh advance and a luxurious car as part of the agreement.
Tripathy took to social media to assert that he would not collaborate with Singhabahini under any circumstances. He then visited the OTV studio, providing detailed accounts of the dispute and even hinting at stepping away from the Jatra scene entirely.
Although the conflict between Tripathy and Padhy seemed settled with a public statement indicating Tripathy's intention to join Singhabahini next year, the fresh allegations from Surya Mandir have reignited the issue.
“He (Piyush) changed his stance just a day after giving statements in the media. He has assured me that under a certain circumstance, he said so. He will be working with us (Surya Mandir) during FY 2025-26,” Pramod Swain expressed to OTV.
No comments were received from Tripathy on these fresh claims.
