Nurse found dead hanging in Cuttack

The body of a nurse was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at a private hostel in Jobra, Cuttack. The deceased has been identified as Kalpana Das, a native of Balasore. She was employed as a nurse at a private hospital in Jobra. Malgodown Police recovered the body upon receiving the report.

One of Kalpana’s friends, who stays in the same hostel, shared that she had gone to sleep after dinner but woke up after hearing loud noises. “We rushed outside and saw that two other girls had broken down the door. We found her hanging inside the bathroom. Me and another girl, we rushed inside to rescue her with the hope that it’s not too late. We brought her to the bedroom and administered CPR on her and checked her pulse; from there, we ascertained that she was dead. We found her in that state at around 11:30 pm and informed HR immediately,” she said.

“She was a very nice person, and I had worked with her for a while now. She was not involved with anyone either,” she added.

Kalpana’s roommate also expressed shock over the incident. “She was a joyous person and had no enemies. She seemed okay. As usual, we cooked together and ate, after that, I went for my duty. She was fine till 9:45 pm last night. But around 11:30 pm, I received a call that she had been inside the bathroom for over an hour but was not responding when called. Being worried, I asked the other girls to break the door down and later found her in that state,” she said.

“She was not mentally depressed; she was happy and really fine. She was not under pressure at work either. She used to get a bit tired after her duty, but that was it; she was not under any workload. She was not mentally distressed, nor was she involved with anyone romantically,” she further added.

Malgodown Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
