The Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested Nuapada Motor Vehicles Inspector (MVI) Bijay Kumar Behuria after ill-gotten cash of Rs 1.32 lakh was seized from his possession on Saturday. The Vigilance sleuths had been closely monitoring the movements of the MVI following credible information regarding collecting huge cash as illegal gratification from different sources.
Accordingly, the team of Odisha Vigilance intercepted the MVI near Khordha Hospital Square while he was proceeding towards Bhubaneswar from Nuapada in a private vehicle on Saturday.
During interception, a sum of Rs.1, 32,000 was recovered from the MVI for which he could not give any satisfactory answer. The entire cash as well as his private vehicles have been seized.
Soon after the interception, simultaneous searches were conducted at the rented residential house of the MVI at Nuapada, his parental house at Behuria sahi in Jajpur, a flat in Sailasree Vihar near Trident Institute, Bhubaneswar and the office chamber of MVI, Nuapada.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case under sections 13(1) (b) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 Bijay Kumar Behuria, MVI, Nuapada.
