After granting the Nua-O scholarship to the students of Plus-III, the Odisha cabinet approved a proposal to extend the same for all undergraduate (UG) and post-graduate students on Saturday. 
As per reports, the Odisha Cabinet approved the amendment in the NUA-O scholarship guidelines and extended its scope of implementation. 

The modified guidelines allow the government to award scholarships to students pursuing various non-technical UG/PG courses in the institutions under the administrative control of other departments as decided from time to time. 

According to a government press release, the initiative is aimed at nurturing inclusive and high-quality education and ensuring that no deserving student faces exclusion due to financial constraints.

As many as 17 proposals of various departments got Cabinet clearance on Saturday.   

  • Another signification decision of the government that got Cabinet approval is the Biju Patnaik Aviation Training Centre to be set up in Dhenkanal for which Rs 562 crore has been earmarked.
  • Bus terminals will be constructed at 318 places across the state under the Ama Bus Stand Yojana.
  • Cabinet approved a proposal for the establishment of a Bhawan for Gopal Samaj at Chandrasekharpur on 500 decimal of land which will be free of premium. 
  • The Cabinet also approved the restructuring of the Odisha Handicrafts Service (OHS) cadre and the Odisha Subordinate Handicrafts Services cadre of the HT&H Department.
  • The Cabinet also approved a proposal of the School and Mass Education Department to pay one-time lump sum amount of Rs 6 lakh to each teacher and Rs 4 lakh to each non-teaching staff of newly aided High Schools and newly aided Sanskrit Tolls on superannuation after the age of 60. Besides, Rs 5 lakh will be provided to each teacher of newly aided UP (ME) Schools and newly aided Madrasas on superannuation.
