The authorities of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo (MSCB) University, Baripada are in for criticisms not only for the power outage during the address of President Droupadi Murmu but also for allegedly insulting former Minister Saraswati Hembram.

Hembram alleged that the university authorities have insulted her by not allowing her into the hall after inviting her to the event.

The police officials deployed at the entrance allegedly refused to let her inside the hall where the convocation programme was underway.

“I was invited to the function. I even carried the invitation card. In the scorching heat, I walked to the University from Takatpur Square on National Highway. Upon reaching here, I was told that only holders of special yellow cards are being allowed into the hall. My question to the University authorities is if they had such an arrangement, why they didn’t provide a yellow card along with the invitation card,” a visibly upset Hembram said.

She said she was insulted in that university for whose establishment she had struggled a lot.

“This is not an affront to me. Rather, it is an affront to the entire Mayurbhanj. I feel insulted. Without mincing words, I would like to say that the university authorities have insulted me by not allowing me into the hall,” she added.

No comments have been received from the University authorities in this regard.
