After 26 days of the horrific train accident at Bahanaga in Balasore, normalcy finally returned to the railway station on Tuesday after the scheduled halt of passenger trains.

However, ticket booking at the station will begin from tomorrow (Wednesday).

As per the information provided by the South Eastern Railway, the operations were normalised and the trains were able to make their scheduled halts at Bahanaga after installation of a new relay in the station’s relay room.

Locals of Bahanaga who witnessed the terrible accident were happy to know about the development. They can now finally board trains from here as before.

“I am very happy that the train services have been fully restored and we will be able to board trains from here,” said Abhaya Nayak, a local of Bahanaga.

It is pertinent to mention here that train movement resumed with the first train (goods) on the section where the accident happened starting its journey at around 10.40 pm on June 4, just 51 hours after the horrific crash which killed 292 people. The goods train was seen off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
