Nor’wester to pummel Odisha for next 2-3 days, orange warning issued

Several districts of Odisha are likely to witness rainfall activities under the influence of Nor’westers in the next two-three days, predicted the India Meteorological Department on Sunday.

As per the regional IMD center Bhubaneswar, nor’wester will be accompanied by gusty winds up to 40-50 kms and hail storm. while several places in the State will witness rainfall up to 7-11 cm.

Meanwhile, IMD has issued an orange warning to 11 districts in Odisha.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 24.04.2023)

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph with hail storm is very likely to occur at one or two places over thedistricts of Kalahandi ,Rayagada, Koraput ,Kandhamal ,Ganjam ,Cuttack ,Jajpur ,Bhadrak ,Dhenkanal ,Angul ,Boudh.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore,Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur,Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj,Keonjhar, Dhenkanal ,Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi ,Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada ,Nuapada.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.04.2023)

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph with Hail and Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack ,Dhenkanal ,Jajpur ,Kalahandi ,Kandhamal ,Mayurbhanj ,Balasore ,Bhadrak ,Kendrapara .

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likey to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur ,Kendrapara ,Khurda ,Puri ,Ganjam ,Kandhamal ,Angul ,Keonjhar ,Deogarh ,Sundargarh ,Sambalpur ,Bolangir ,Sonepur ,Boudh ,Gajapati.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.04.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj ,Sambalpur ,Deogarh ,Angul ,Dhenkanal ,Boudh ,Kalahandi ,Kandhamal ,Bolangir ,Sonepur ,Nawarangpur ,Nuapada .
