The long-standing demand for flight operation from and to Rangeilunda airstrip on the outskirts of Silk City Berhampur has finally been fulfilled.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday flagged off the flight services from Bhubaneswar to Rangeilunda on the occasion of Biju Jayanti.

The state-sponsored flight operation has been started to increase air connectivity from the state capital to other cities in Odisha.

A flight took off at 10 am in the morning from Bhubaneswar Airport and landed at Rangeilunda Airstrip in just 40 minutes at around 10:40 am. Later, the flight flew back for Bhubaneswar from Rangeilunda Airstrip at around 11:05 am.

The flight services can save a lot of time for passengers travelling between Bhubaneswar and Berhampur. It will also reduce the travel time between Temple City and Silk City.

In the initial phase, the non-scheduled flight service will reportedly operate using a 9-seater aircraft. Later, more flights will be included in the coming days after the expansion and development of the airstrip.
