No road connectivity: Villagers carry relative’s body on cot in Kandhamal

 

In another shocking incident, villagers of Samapaju under Khajuripada block in Kandhamal district had to carry the body of a relative on a cot due to the absence of proper road connectivity to the village. The deceased has been identified as Rohit Kanhara.

As per reports, Rohit, who was badly injured in an accident, was admitted to Phulbani District Head Quarters Hospital. However, he died during treatment at the hospital.

Following the post-mortem of the body, the family members carried the body in an ambulance. However, the ambulance could not enter the village as there was no proper road facility to the village.

With no alternative option, the locals carried the body on a cot to the village.

Notably, the village is under Bilabadi Gram Panchayat. The then MP of Kandhamal Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh had adopted the village in 2018. However, the village doesn’t have proper road connectivity till now. 

The village is also deprived of basic amenities like education and healthcare. Moreover, several others villages in Kandhamal also lack proper road connectivity.

No reaction from the block and district administration could be obtained in this connection with the incident.
