In an unusual turn of events, Odisha’s Lanjigarh MLA Pradip Kumar Disari had to bear the brunt of angry villagers on Friday while he was on his way to inaugurate an ‘Adarsh Goat Hostel’ and a park at Trilochanpur village on the foothills of Niyamgiri Hills in Kalahandi district.

Distressed over the lack of proper communication and road connectivity, irate villagers stopped the convoy of the legislator and sought answers. He was welcomed with ‘First, repair roads in remote areas, and then inaugurate parks and new projects’ slogans by the villagers.

The villagers blocked the road and did not allow the lawmaker into their village. With no other option, the legislator had to return red-faced from the village without conducting the inauguration ceremony.

Residents of Trilochanpur panchayat have been reeling under unwanted problems due to a lack of basic facilities in the area. Even after so many years of Independence, the villagers have allegedly been deprived of proper communication, road facilities, and other basic amenities.

Despite running from pillar to post and bringing their plight to the notice of the district administration, BDO, and MLA, their pleas for a proper road have fallen on deaf ears. Infuriated, the villagers stopped the convoy of Disari and prevented him from entering the village.

The lawmaker is visiting villages and inaugurating new projects as the General Election is coming. Otherwise, there is no sight of him for years, villagers claimed.

On the other hand, no comments could be obtained from Disari in this connection.
