Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Friday said that there is no need to panic as potato stocks have been loaded and would be brought to Odisha in trains.

Potato, Onion price rise in Odisha

The two basic essential commodities- potatoes and onions are giving jitters to the common man. The drop in regular supply of stock from neighbouring states and price fluctuations are said to be prime reasons behind the consumers’ worry in Odisha.

Amidst such situation, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Friday said that there is no need to panic as potato stocks have been loaded and would be brought to Odisha in trains.

“There is sufficient potato stock in the state. The prices have come down to Rs 20 per kilo,” said Patra.

The Minister further informed that potatoes will be brought from states which will provide good quality stock at reasonable rates. When asked about the price rise of onions, the Minister admitted that the price is on a higher side.

“We have given orders to NAFED and two trips of sufficient stock of onions will be brought on a daily basis,” he said.
