Justice S Muralidhar may continue to be the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court for now as the Supreme Court Colleigium has recalled its decision recommending elevation of Justice Jaswant Singh to the top post.

In September last year, the SC Collegium had proposed elevation of Justice Jaswant Singh as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. Justice Singh is currently serving as a Judge of the High Court.

In a statement, the SC Collegium has now announced appointment of Justice Jaswant Singh as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.  

“The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 25 January 2023, on reconsideration and in supersession of its earlier recommendation dated 28 September 2022, has recommended elevation of Shri Justice Jaswant Singh, Judge, Orissa High Court as Chief Justice of the Tripura High,” the statement read. 

Justice Singh has been serving as a Judge in the Orissa High Court since October 8, 2021. Born on February 23, 1961, in Rohtak, he had his schooling at Oak Grove School, Jharipani, Mussoorie/Model School, Rohtak.
