There is no let-up in labour migration in Bolangir.  As many as 15 migrant labourers including seven minor children were rescued by police at Ghuchapali Chhak under Khaprakhole Police limits. The victims were reportedly being taken to Hyderabad on Sunday.

Besides, three contractors who were taking the labourers were arrested and later produced in court.

As per reports, among the rescued labourers, there are two minor boys, four women and five minor girls.
Police got information that the three labour contractors were taking the local people on a train to Hyderabad where they would have been engaged in a brick kiln. Police conducted a raid at Ghuchapali Chhak and rescued them.

However, no comments have been received from the police in this regard.

On the other hand, the plight of migrant labourers at workplaces continues to surface oftentimes. On December 9, there were reports of as many as 25 migrant labourers from Munikel and Katangapali in Bargarh district being stranded at a brick kiln in Karnataka. The brick kiln owner was allegedly forcing them to work without wages. They had appealed to the state government to rescue them.
