No DJ music, forcible donation collection during Durga Puja in Cuttack

It has been proposed to conduct cultural programs till midnight. The police have also warned of stringent action for forcible collection of donations.

Durga Puja in Cuttack

In a bid to check noise pollution, DJ music has been completely banned during the immersion ceremony of the upcoming Durga Puja in the Millennium City of Cuttack this year, informed Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda on Sunday.

Panda announced the development after a preparatory meeting held by the Cuttack Mahanagar Purbanchala Shanti Committee (peace committee) today.

While the immersion ceremony will be held on October 14, DJ music has been completely banned during the ceremony. Only six boxes will be allowed within 65 decibel of sound.

Meanwhile, it has been proposed to conduct cultural programs till midnight. The police have also warned of stringent action for forcible collection of donations.

“All the puja committees have promised in the peace committee meeting not to play DJ music during the immersion ceremony. They have also assured to make the puja liquor-free. We are hopeful that with cooperation from all the puja committees, we will conduct the puja in a peaceful manner this year,” said Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda.

“We will lodge an FIR against forcible donation collection during Puja and the concerned persons will be arrested. Only six boxes will be allowed within 65 decibels of sound and DJ music will not be allowed at any cost,” he added.
