Nine die in lightning strikes across Odisha

At least nine persons lost their lives in separate lightning strikes in Odisha on Monday.

A woman at Bahabazar in Pipili’s Dandamukundapur died in lightning strike.

Similarly, two persons; a minor girl at Ghosara village in Bonai and another at Hatadihi in Anandapur, Keonjhar died in lightning strikes while working in fields.

Another farmer also succumbed to lightning strike while working in the field at Padanpur village under Banki’s Damapada block.

Two farmers -one at Ichinda in Champua and another at Dhubasila in Nilagiri died when lightning struck them in their fields.

A woman at Kanpada village under Bhadrak’s Tihidi block also lost her life in a lightning strike on Monday.

Earlier in the day, a man and his son died in a lightning strike incident at Chilika Lake in Odisha. The deceased have been identified as Bidhan Biswas and his son Uttam.

As per initial reports, the father-son duo had reportedly gone to Chilika for fishing when they were struck by lightning in the middle of the lake near Kalijugeswar Hill.
