Nightclubs, bars raided in Bhubaneswar; Commissionerate Police detects violations

A special squad of the Commissionerate Police on Saturday night conducted surprise raids on various nightclubs and bars on the allegations of openly flouting norms in Bhubaneswar. As per reports, the raid is part of the ongoing ‘safe city’ drive launched by the Commissionerate Police.

Three platoon police forces along with the special squad conducted the late-night raids on several night clubs and bars in Chandrasekharpur, Infocity, and Patia area for operating beyond the specified time limit and openly flouting the sound limit norms.

Despite several warnings by the police, the bars and nightclubs continue to operate beyond the specified timings in different parts of the city.

The nightclubs and bars were also found openly violating the terms and conditions of the Excise Department.

Many youngsters were spotted in a drunken state and dancing in the clubs late at night. However, there have been no reports of any arrest in this connection.

Sources said, action will be initiated as per law against those nightclubs and bars that were found violating the norms.
