Orissa High Court on Wednesday granted bail to newly-elected Khordha MLA Prashant Jagdev who was earlier arrested in connection with alleged violence and EVM toppling incident at a booth during the recently concluded Odisha elections 2024.

Jagdev was earlier released on a three-day interim bail to attend several programmes including his oath-taking ceremony as MLA. As per reports, the lower court will set conditions for granting bail to the newly-elected Khordha MLA.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prashant Jagdev was arrested on the charges of toppling an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) during the third phase of polling held in Odisha on May 25.

Jagdev’s arrest had triggered a political row with BJP accusing the BJD of hatching a conspiracy against him.

Later, a CCTV footage was released by the BJP leaders which cleared the air and pointed that Jagdev was not involved in any such irregularities at the booth where he had gone to exercise his franchise along with his wife.
