While Odisha’s incumbent Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal is all set to leave his office tomorrow, the state’s newly-appointed Governor Raghubar Das is likely to take the oath of office on October 31.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Prof Ganeshi Lal. The two leaders met in the Raj Bhawan.

A farewell meeting was also organised at Raj Bhavan on Thursday for Governor Prof.Ganeshi Lal.

"Odisha has enriched my knowledge and consciousness in various ways," said Prof. Ganeshi Lal during the farewell meeting.

On the other hand, the newly-appointed Governor, while speaking to journalists yesterday, said the constitutional responsibility given to him is a huge one, and he would discharge it with sincerity. A day after the announcement on October 19, 68-year-old Das took the blessings of his elder sister. As per the tradition, his elder sister ignited lamps and applied sandalwood paste and vermilion on his forehead, as a mark of joy and love ahead of his new journey as the Governor of Odisha.

Notably, the tenure of Prof. Ganeshi Lal ended on May 29 this year. Later his term was extended. He had taken oath as the Governor of Odisha on May 29, 2018.
